Windows and Mirrors 2016: Welcome and Task Description!

Dear Grade 9 English LL students,

Welcome to our blog! As part of your formative assessment, you will be posting to this blog in a couple of different ways. Please see the instructions below for information on what to do:

PART 1

Choose one poem from the poetry packet that has been forwarded to you and write a 250-300 word critique of it. How does this poem effectively elicit emotion in the reader and illuminate a particular issue?

*Your critique must:

• Refer to literary/poetic devices employed in the poem
• Refer to and discuss the themes/issues prevalent in poem

*Your critique must also employ blog writing techniques, including:

• Provocative title/lead (please include your FIRST name, so we know who is posting)
• Short paragraphs
• A lead image (additional images optional)
• Conclude with a question/dramatic/thoughtful/interesting punchline
• At least one subheading

**** PLEASE NOTE: Firstly prepare your critique IN A GOOGLE DOC AND UPLOAD IT TO YOUR ENGLISH FOLDER.  You will then post it HERE, on this blog.

DUE  THURSDAY, APRIL 28.

PART 2:

Once the critiques have been posted on THIS BLOG, you will be expected to READ and RESPOND TO 3 (THREE) of your classmates' blog posts. These responses will take the form of comments on the blog, but please first post these in the chart provided HERE.
